Connector containing fusible material and having intrinsic temperature control

A connector comprising:

• a hollow conductive member,
• a fusible material disposed internally of said hollow conductive member,
• a coating of feromagnetic material on a circumferential surface of said hollow conductive member,
• said ferromagnetic material having a Curie temperature about equal to the melting temperature of said fusible material.

A connector comprising:

• a hollow conductive member,
• a fusible material disposed internally of said hollow conductive member in heat conductive relationship thereto,
• a ferromagnetic material on an inner surface of said hollow conductive member and in thermal electrical contact therewith,
• said ferromagnetic material having a Curie temperature at least equal to the melting temperature of said fusible material, and
• means adapted to connect said hollow conductive member across and a.c. source of constant current.

A coupling mechanism for joining materials and/or articles comprising

• a coupling member including a ferromagnetic member,
• said coupling member being adapted to receive a first member to be connected to another member,
• a fusible material located when heated to contact said first member and said another member,
• means adapted to develop a constant current in said ferromagnetic material sufficient to cause the temperature of said ferromagnetic material to approach its Curie temperature,
• said fusible material having a melting point below said Curie temperature whereby it is melted when the temperature of the ferromagnetic material approaches its Curie temperature.

A coupling mechanism for operation at a constant temperature to melt a fusible material to join at least two members, comprising

• a ferromagnetic material having a predetermined Curie temperature,
• a first member to be joined to at least another member,
• a fusible material positioned to contact the members when fused and joining the members when solidified,
• said fusible material in contact with said ferromagnetic material,
• said fusible material having a fusion temperature below the Curie temperature of said ferromagnetic material, and
• means for connecting said ferromagnetic material to a source of a constant alternating current to pass through said ferromagnetic material a constant alternating current sufficient to cause said ferromagnetic material to approach its Curie temperature when said another the member is to be coupled to said first member.

An electrical circuit comprising an electrically conductive connector to be connected in said electrical circuit,

• a ferromagnetic member having a predetermined Curie temperature,
• a first member to be connected to at least another member,
• said connector including at least said ferromagnetic member,
• a fusible material positioned to contact at least two of said members when fused and joining the members when cooled to a solid state,
• said fusible material being in heat conducting relationship with said ferromagnetic member,
• said fusible material having a fusion temperature below the Curie temperature of said feromagnetic member,
• means subjecting said connector to a constant alternating electric current whereby said ferromagnetic member is heated sufficiently to cause said ferromagnetic member to approach its Curie temperature.
