This invention relates to the use of new special polyimides for the production of cast films and coatings.

Cast films or coatings comprising polyimide resins prepared by the reaction of 2,2-bisphthalic anhydrido-(4)-propane with 2,2-bis-(4-aminophenoxyphenyl)-propane, at temperatures of 0.degree. to 400.degree. C. and optionally in the presence of further diamines, acids or anhydrides.
