N-phenyl-N-carboxythioureas and their use in the control of pests

A pesticidal composition which contains as active component an insecticidally, arachnicidally or fungicidally effective amount of a compound of the formula I ##STR12## or a compound of the formula IV ##STR13## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkenyl,

• R.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkylthio,
• R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkynyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
• C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkynyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl each substituted one to eleven times by fluorine, chlorine or bromine or interrupted by one oxygen or sulphur atom;
• C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl;
• or C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl substituted one to three times by fluorine, chlorine, bromine or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl, and
• R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;
• phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
• C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl each substituted one to eleven times by fluorine, chlorine or bromine or interrupted by one oxygen or sulphur atom;
• C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl;
• or C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl substituted one to three times by fluorine, chlorine, bromine or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl, and
• X represents the radical of a hydrohalic acid, together with a pesticidally acceptable carrier or other adjuvant.

A method for controlling pests on animals and plants, characterised in that the pests in their various stages of development are brought into contact with a pesticidally effective amount of a compound of the formula I ##STR14## or of the formula IV ##STR15## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.7 cycloalkyl or C.sub.5 -C.sub.6 cycloalkenyl,

• R.sub.3 is hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkylthio,
• R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkynyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
• C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.10 alkynyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl each substituted one to eleven times by fluorine, chlorine or bromine or interrupted by one oxygen or sulphur atom;
• C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl;
• or C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl substituted one to three times by fluorine, chlorine, bromine or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl, and
• R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl;
• phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl;
• C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl or phenyl-C.sub.1 -C.sub.7 alkyl each substituted one to eleven times by fluorine, chlorine or bromine or interrupted by one oxygen or sulphur atom;
• C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl;
• or C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl substituted one to three times by fluorine, chlorine, bromine or by C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl, and
• X is the radical of a hydrohalic acid.
