Abstract
Disclosed herein are novel benzopyrans having pharmacological activity, to a process for preparing them, to pharmaceutical compositions containing them, and to their use in the treatment of hypertension.

A compound of formula (I) ##STR7## wherein R.sup.1 is trifluoromethylsulfonyl or trifluoromethylsulfinyl and R.sup.2 is H;
- or R.sup.1 is H or nitro and R.sup.2 is CF.sub.3 CONH.
The compound 2,2-dimethyl-6-(trifluoromethylmercapto)-2H-benzopyran.
A method of treatment of hypertension in mammals which comprises administering to the mammal in need thereof an effective antihypertensive amount of a compound of formula (I).
