Image pickup apparatus having color separation filters and forming line-sequential luminance and color-difference signals

An image pickup device

• comprising:
• at least one solid-state image pickup device having a plurality of picture elements arranged in horizontal lines to form a matrix;
• and
• a color separation filter means provided on said image pickup device and having color-separation filter elements arranged corresponding to respective ones of said picture elements, said filter elements including first filter elements for separating a first color and arranged in a checkerboard pattern, and second and third color separation filter elements for separating second and third colors, respectively, and arranged in horizontal two-line sequence between adjacent ones of said first filter elements.

An image pickup device comprising:

• at least one solid-state image pickup device having a plurality of picture elements arranged in horizontal lines to form a matrix;
• a color separation filter means provided on said image pickup device and having color-separation filter elements arranged corresponding to respective ones of said picture elements, said filter elements including first filter elements for separating a first color and arranged in a checkerboard pattern, and second and third color separation filter elements for separating second and third colors, respectively, and arranged in horizontal two-line sequence between adjacent ones of said first filter elements;
• and
• means for reading information from two lines simultaneously, wherein said reading means reads information from a plurality of horizontal lines of said picture elements.

An image pickup device comprising:

• at least one solid-state image pickup device having a plurality of picture elements arranged in horizontal lines to form a matrix;
• a color separation filter means provided on said image pickup device and having color-separation filter elements arranged corresponding to respective ones of said picture elements, said filter elements including first filter elements for separating a first color and arranged in a checkerboard pattern, and second and third color separation filter elements for separating second and third colors, respectively, and arranged in horizontal two-line sequence between adjacent ones of said first filter elements;
• and
• means for reading information from a plurality of horizontal lines of said picture elements,
• wherein said reading means simultaneously reads information from a combination of two lines in such a manner that the combination of lines to be simultaneously read by said reading means shifts by one horizontal line in every field.
