Cycloalkanol esters of dihydrolysergic acid

A method of treating migraine which comprises administering to a mammal-suffering from migraine, a migraine relieving dose of a compound of the formula:

• ##STR7## wherein R is primary of secondary C.sub.1-8 alkyl, CH.sub.2 -C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.3-8 cycloalkyl or C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl-substituted C.sub.1-5 primary or secondary alkyl, the total number of carbon atoms in R not to exceed 8;
• R.sup.1 is C.sub.1-4 straight chain alkyl, and R.sup.2 is C.sub.5-7 cycloalkyl or keto-substituted C.sub.5-7 cycloalkyl, and pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof.

A method of treating vasopasm which comprises administering to a mammal experiencing vasospasm, a vasopasm relieving does of a compound of the formula:

• ##STR8## wherein R is primary or secondary C.sub.1-8 alkyl, CH.sub.2 -C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.3-8 cycloalkyl or C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl-substituted C.sub.1-5 primary or secondary alkyl, the total number of carbon atoms in R not to exceed 8;
• R.sup.1 is C.sub.1-4 straight chain alkyl, and R.sup.2 is C.sub.5-7 cycloalkyl or keto-substituted C.sub.5-7 cycloalkyl, and pharmaceutically-accepted salts thereof.

A compound of the formula ##STR9## wherein R is primary or secondary C.sub.1-8 alkyl, CH.sub.2 -C.sub.2-4 alkenyl, C.sub.3-8 cycloalkyl or C.sub.3-6 cycloalkyl-substituted C.sub.2-5 primary or secondary alkyl, the total number of carbon atoms in R not to exceed 8;

• and R.sup.4 is H or C.sub.1-2 alkyl.
