Abstract
An optical recording medium comprising a substrate and a recording layer made of metal and/or semi-metal and on which data can be recorded with a laser beam, wherein a plasma polymerization layer is formed on at least an upper surface of said recording layer.

An optical recording medium comprising a substrate and a recording layer made of one or more metals and/or semi-metals selected from the group consisting of Te, Sn, In, Au, Pt, Se, As, Bi, Al, Ga, Ge, Mo, Sb, Pb, Ti, laminates of said metals with semi-metals, mixtures of said metals with semi-metals, sulfides of said metals, oxides of said metals, metal fluorides, metal silicides, and metal nitrides and on which data can be recorded with a laser beam, wherein a plasma polymerization layer is formed on at least an upper surface of said recording layer and is formed by a monomer having the following formula:
- ##STR2## wherein A' is a hydrogen atom and B is any member selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom and one of an alkyl or an alkenyl group having one or more carbon atoms.
