Abstract
An improved pH probe based on fiber optics and a unique cross-linked terpolymer of methacrylamidopropyl-trimethyl ammonium chloride, sodium acrylamidopropane sulfonate, and acrylamide, the terpolymer having bound thereto an indicator dye.

As a composition of matter, a cross-linked trimonomer copolymer consisting essentially of methacrylamidopropyl-trimethyl ammonium chloride (MAPTAC), sodium acrylamidopropane sulfonate (NaAMPS) and acrylamide, the copolymer having bound thereto an indicator dye.
The composition of any one of the preceding claims in the combination with a fiber optic probe.
