Method for providing containers with a controlled environment

A method for providing a container with a controlled environment, comprising the steps of:

• lowering a plunger into a contacting position with an opening in said container, said plunger having a first set of one or more openings and a second set of one or more openings for communicating with the interior of said container;
• applying a first source of environment to the container through a first flow means in communication with said first set of one or more openings in said plunger;
• and
• applying a second source of environment to the container through a second flow means in communication with said second set of one or more openings in said plunger

A method of removing oxygen from a container comprising the steps of:

• lowering a plunger into a contacting position with an opening in said container, said plunger having one or more openings for communicating with the interior of said container;
• applying a vacuum source to the container through a first flow means in communication with an opening in said plunger;
• and
• supplying an inert gas to the container through a second flow means in communication with an opening in said plunger

A method for providing a container with a controlled environment, comprising the steps of:

• inserting the container into a sealed chamber;
• applying a contacting device over an opening in said container, said contacting device located inside said sealed chamber and having a first set of one or more openings in communication with the interior of the container;
• and
• applying a first source of environment to an interior of the sealed chamber, and supplying a second source of environment to the interior of said container through an opening in said contacting device;
• said first source of environment comprising a vacuum source;
• said interior of said container communicating with said interior of said sealed chamber.
