A system to convert vector data to pixel data for drawing a vector on display screen that is divided into groups of pixels (matrices) having selected numbers of pixels in the x and y coordinate directions. The vector data is processed to define the slope of the vector and the number of matrices in the x and y directions the vector extends through. Counters are set to such numbers. Starting with the first matrix in which one end of the vector is located, a circuit defines which pixels must be enabled to draw the vector through that matrix. According to the location of the vector relative to decision points in the first matrix, a circuit identifies the next matrix through which the vector extends and causes the counter to count. This continues until the last matrix is identified and the pixels therein are enabled. An additional circuit masks those pixels, if any, in the first and last matrices that are beyond the end of the vector.
Apparatus for vector to pixel conversion to draw a vector on a display screen having pixels thereon extending in both x and y coordinate directions, said vector having directional characteristics indicating the direction thereof, comprising:
Apparatus for vector to pixel conversion in which each pixel of a display screen is organized into one of a plurality of separate matrices each having a given number of pixels in an x coordinate direction and a selected number of pixels in a y coordinate direction, each said matrix being located on said screen at a fixed location relative to all other ones of said matrices, such conversion defining which pixels must be "on" in order to draw a first vector from a first pixel to a last pixel on said screen, a current matrix being one of such matrices during such conversion thereof, a matrix prior to said current matrix being one of said matrices that is adjacent said current matrix in a direction toward said first pixel, an exit side of one of said matrices being a side of said matrix that is intersected by said vector as said vector extends from said current matrix to a next matrix, each said matrix having a first decision point located therein at a selected location, comprising:
A method of converting a vector to pixel enable data for displaying said vector on a display screen having pixels extending in x and y coordinate directions, said vector being defined by a first pixel having a first x and y coordinate address on said screen and by a last pixel having a last x and y coordinate address, said vector having a directional characteristic, which comprises:
