Light absorbing dye for photography

A silver halide photographic light-sensitive material which comprises a support and, provided thereon, at least one photographic layer, said photographic layer containing a light absorbing dye represented by the following formula [I] or [II] ##STR21## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 which maybe identical or different each represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group and may link to each other to form a ring, R.sub.3 represents an alkyl group substituted with at least one sulfo group or an aryl group substituted with at least one sulfo group, R.sub.4 represents a substituted or unsubstituted alkyl group, a substituted or unsubstituted aryl group, a carboxy group or an alkoxycarbonyl group, and n represents an integer of 1-4;

• ##STR22## wherein R.sub.1 represents an alkyl group or an aryl group, R.sub.2 represents an aryl group substituted with sulfo group and R.sub.3 represents an alkyl group.
