Abstract
A method for preventing or treating infection or disease in a mammal caused by a virus, such as herpes simplex virus type 1 and 2. A quaternary ammonium compound, such as tetraethylammonium ion or hexamethonium ion, is administered to the mammal in an effective dosage.
Claims13
A method for treating infection or disease in a mammal caused by herpes simplex virus type-1 or herpes simplex virus type-2 comprising the step of administering to the mammal a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of tetraethylammonium ion, hexamethonium ion, pentolinium ion, chlorisondamine ion, trimethidinium ion, trimethaphan ion, and homologs thereof in an effective dosage.
A method for treating a mammal comprising the step of administering to the mammal a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of tetraethylammonium ion, hexamethonium ion, pentolinium ion, chlorisondamine ion, trimethidinium ion, trimethaphan ion, and homologs thereof in a dosage effective to produce an anti-viral effect with respect to herpes simplex virus type-2 or herpes simplex virus type-1.
A method of treating a mammal comprising the step of administering to the mammal a quaternary ammonium compound selected from the group consisting of tetraethylammonium ion, hexamethonium ion, pentalonium ion, chlorisondamine ion, trimethidinium ion, trimethaphan ion, and homologs thereof in a dosage effective to inhibit the viral function of herpes simplex virus type-2 or herpes simplex virus type-1.
