Abstract
The invention provides a class of alkanoic acids substituted with a benzenesulphonamidopyridyl group. The compounds have activity as thromboxane A.sub.2 -antagonists.
Claims14
A compound of the formula (I):
- ##STR7## and salts thereof;
- wherein A is a group NR.sup.3 SO.sub.2 or SO.sub.2 NR.sup.3 ;
- B is C.sub.1-6 alkylene;
- Y is CO.sub.2 H, CN, C.sub.1-4 alkoxycarbonyl, carbamoyl, mono-C.sub.1-6 alkylcarbamoyl or di-C.sub.1-6 alkylcarbamoyl;
- R.sup.1 is unsubstituted phenyl or phenyl substituted by one or more substituents chosen from the group consisting of halogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, C.sub.1-6 acyl, C.sub.1-4 alkoxy, nitro and trifluoromethyl, provided that when R.sup.1 is phenyl substituted by two or more substituents, no more than one substituent can be meta-trifluoromethyl;
- R.sup.2 is hydrogen or one or more C.sub.1-4 alkyl substituents;
- and R.sup.3 is hydrogen or C.sub.1-6 alkyl.
