Abstract
Improved reproducibility is obtained when silver halide emulsions containing iridium are prepared using a nitric acid solution of an iridium (IV) salt.

A process for preparing a silver halides emulsion by treating the emulsion, during or after precipitation of silver halide grains, with an aqueous solution of an iridium salt, wherein the iridium salt solution is a nitric acid solution of an iridium (IV) salt.
