Abstract
A process for the preparation of silica based charge enhancing additives which comprises the reaction of a tetraalkoxysilane with an alcoholic alkaline solution in the presence of a soluble charge enhancing additive.

A toner comprised of resin particles and a silica based charge enhancing additive prepared by reacting a tetraalkoxysilane with an alcoholic alkaline solution in the presence of a soluble charge enhancing additive to form silica particles having sorbed thereon said charge enhancing additive.
A toner composition comprised of resin particles and a silica based charge enhancing additive prepared by reacting a tetraalkoxysilane with an alcoholic ammonium hydroxide solution in the presence of a soluble charge enhancing additive to form silica particles having sorbed thereon said charge enhancing additive.
