Abstract
A coated glass article is disclosed wherein the interference color infrared-reflective film on one surface of a glass substrate are masked by depositing a uniform higher reflecting metal-containing film on the bottom surface of a glass ribbon by chemical vapor deposition.
Claims12
A coated glass article produced by a process comprising the steps of:
- a. coating a transparent glass substrate on one surface thereof with an infrared reflective film which alone exhibits interference color effects in reflectance;
- and
- b. substantially simultaneously depositing by chemical vapor deposition on the opposite surface of said glass substrate a nonadjacent, nonabsorbing second film with sufficiently uniform visible reflectance sufficiently higher than the visible reflectance of the infrared reflective film to mask the interference color effects of said infrared reflective film.
