Abstract
Tape joint compounds are prepared using as binders therefor vinyl ester polymers prepared by conventional emulsion polymerization techniques employing, as the stabilizer therein, an acid converted or enzyme modified starch having a water fluidity of 10 to 85.
Claims21
A tape joint compound comprising a solid filler and, as a binder therefor, 1 to 12% based on dry weight of a homo- or copolymer of vinyl acetate which has been emulsion polymerized using, as a stabilizer, 1 to 10% on the weight of the monomer of a dispersed or dissolved acid converted or enzyme modified starch having a water fluidity of 10 to 85.
