Abstract
A process in which a culture of a methane-oxidizing bacterium or an extract thereof containing a methane oxidizing system is used as oxidizing agent for the oxidation of a higher short-chain alkane, an alkene or a cyclic organic compound.
Claims13
A process for oxidizing an alkene which comprises contacting said alkene with a culture of methane-oxidizing C.sub.1 -obligate bacteria not capable of growth on said alkene, or an extract of said culture which contains a methane-oxidizing enzyme system, under conditions of medium, temperature and time required for oxidation of said alkene.
