Radiant heater for cooking appliances

A radiant heater for cooking appliances with a cooking surface, comprising:

• at least one electric light radiator heating element which operates at an elevated temperature above 2200.degree. F. (approximately 1200.degree. C.) and whose radiation spectrum is mainly in the visible range;
• a radiation shield provided at an edge region of the radiant heater;
• and,
• an insulator, an edge part of the insulator being covered by a further radiation shield constructed as a substantially circular insulating mask, which faces a cooking surface.

A radiant heater for cooking appliances with a cooking surface, comprising:

• at least one electric light radiator heating element, which operates at an elevated temperature above 2200.degree. F. (approximately 1200.degree. C.) and whose radiation spectrum is mainly in the visible range;
• a radiation shield, provided at an edge region of the radiant heater;
• and,
• an insulator having a rim, the electric light radiator heating element being arranged between the insulator and a cooking surface and mainly within the rim, an edge recess being provided in the rim, the radiator heating element being directed toward the cooking surface.

A radiant heater for cooking appliances with a cooking surface, comprising:

• at least one electric light radiator heating element which operates at an elevated temperature above 2200.degree. F. (approximately 1200.degree. C.) and whose radiation spectrum is mainly in the visible range, the light radiator heating element having an electrical heating resistor enclosed in a tube of transparent material having closed ends defining end faces;
• a radiation shield blocking the end faces of the light radiator against radiation directed from said end faces towards an area of a cooking appliance located outside the radiant heater;
• and,
• a rim surrounding the radiant heater and being directed toward the cooking surface, the ends of the light radiator tube projecting through a slot-like outer opening of a recess in said rim.
