A method for preparing aryl sulfides by heating an iodoaromatic compound with elemental sulfur at a temperature above about 150.degree. C.

A method for preparing aromatic sulfides, consisting essentially of:
- reacting a mixture of an iodoaromatic compound, said compound having a single iodine ring substituent and elemental sulfur at a temperature above about 150.degree. C.
