Abstract
This invention relates to an aqueous composition useful to deposit a corrosion inhibiting and adhesion promoting coating on a corrodible metal substrate and a method for doing same. The composition has a pH of between about 2 and about 10 and comprises water-soluble or water-dispersible metal-chelating diphenolamine compounds.
Claims10
An aqueous composition useful to deposit a corrosion inhibiting coating on a corrodible metal substrate, said composition (1) having a pH of between about 2 and about 5 and (2) consisting essentially of at least about 0.01 weight percent of a water-soluble or water-dispersible diphenolamine metal-chelating compounds selected from compounds having the general chemical formula:
- ##STR3## wherein R is alkyl, aryl or hydroxy alkyl.
