A temperature control method of a cut tobacco leaves drying apparatus having a rotary hollow cylinder around which a plurality of heaters are mounted and in which the cut tobacco leaves are dried while they are carried along the rotational axis of the cylinder toward the exit of the cylinder during the rotation of the cylinder. The method is capable of bringing moisture rate of the cut tobacco leaves to a desired value as fast as possible when they are dried for a period of time shortly after the cut tobacco leaves begin to flow into the drying apparatus. The heaters mounted on the cylinder are supplied heat with the amount of heat medium controlled independently of each other. Therefore the inner space of the cylinder defines cascaded drying-spaces of which the temperatures are controlled in response to a fow rate of the cut tobacco leaves flowing through the drying-spaces.
In a cut tobacco leaves drying apparatus having a rotary hollow cylinder around which a plurality of heater means are mounted and in which the cut tobacco leaves are dried while they are carried along the rotational axis of said cylinder toward the exit of said cylinder during the rotation of the cylinder, the process for the temperature control of the drying apparatus comprises the steps of
