Abstract
New compositions and methods of preparing hydrolyzed titanium chelates are disclosed. New chelates of tetra-isopropyl titanate with alkanolamines in 1/1 mole ratios have high activity as catalysts and exhibit surprising chemical characteristics as reactive intermediates. New partially hydrolized chelates are water soluble, chemically reactive and highly active as esterification catalysts.
Claims5
Compositions which are the reaction products of essentially molecular equivalent quantities of a tetra-isopropyl titanate, (i) Ti(OR).sub.4 and a dialkanolamine ##STR2## where R is isopropyl, R' is H, phenyl or alkyl of 1 to 10 carbon atoms and R" is H or alkyl of 1 to 6 carbon atoms, and said reaction products consist of free isopropyl alcohol and a titanium chelate adduct which is catalytically active and chemically reactive in a manner consistent with the functionality represented by structure, ##STR3##
