Abstract
The rheology of a fluidic, substantially combustible non-polluting liquid/solid slurried fuel system derived in substantial part from hydrodisproportionation of coal is varied by addition of fluidic aqueous mixtures and lower chain alcohols to alter the rheology of the mixture and reduce the thermal NO.sub.x upon combustion.
Claims27
A method of varying the rheology of a substantially completely combustible, non-polluting fluidic fuel system derived from coal comprising a portion of a particulate coal char dispersed in an amount of a liquid organic material effective to produce a transportable, liquid/solid mixture, wherein said liquid organic material is at least partially derived from the hydropyrolysis of coal, comprising the step of varying the viscosity of said liquid organic material by admixing with said admixture an amount of a fluidic aqueous mixture effective to enhance the rheological characteristics of the resultant liquid/solid mixture.
A method for varying the rheology of a substantially completely combustible fluidic fuel system which comprises a portion of a particulate coal char dispersed in an amount of a liquid organic material effective to produce a transportable, non-polluting liquid/solid mixture, wherein said liquid material is at least partially derived from the pyrolysis of coal, comprising the steps of
- (a) subjecting coal to hydrodisproportionation in the presence of a hydrogen-rich reducing atmosphere and to produce a coal char, an organic liquid and hydrocarbon containing gas;
- (b) processing the coal char to produce a sized coal char;
- (c) admixing said particulate coal char and said organic liquid to form said substantially completely combustible fluidic fuel system;
- and
- (d) admixing with said fluidic fuel system an amount of a fluidic aqueous mixture effective to enhance the rheological characteristics of the resultant admixture.
A fluidic fuel system comprising a portion of a particulate coal char dispersed in an amount of a mixture of a liquid organic material and a fluidic aqueous mixture effective to produce a transportable liquid/solid admixture wherein said liquid organic material is at least partially derived from the hydrodisproportionation of coal.
