Abstract
A novel process for preparing cimetidine polymorph "B" comprises precipitating cimetidine from an aqueous-alcoholic solution of an acid addition salt. The precipitation is conducted at a temperature of above 15.degree. C.

A process for preparing cimetidine, substantially all of which is in the polymorph B form, which process comprises precipitating cimetidine from a solution of an acid addition salt thereof in water containing 7-20% (v/v) of a C.sub.1-4 alcohol by addition of a base, the precipitation being conducted at a temperature above 15.degree. C.
