Abstract
Novel trichlorodimethylethyl phosphite esters are utilized as intermediates in a new synthesis procedure for producing oligonucleotides. On completion of the synthesis the trichlorodimethylethyl protecting group can be cleaved by reaction with tributylphosphine or hexamethylphosphoramide.
Claims6
The nucleoside trichlorodimethylethyl phosphite esters represented by the structural formula:
- ##STR12## wherein X is selected from Cl and --O--Nuc and Nuc represent nucleosides which are protected at their --OH and --NH.sub.2 sites.
The nucleoside phosphite dimers represented by the structural formula. ##STR13## wherein Nuc.sub.1 and Nuc.sub.2 are nucleosides connected respectively to the phosphorus through their 3' and 5' oxygens, said Nuc.sub.1 being protected at its --OH and --NH.sub.2 sites, and said Nuc.sub.2 being protected at only its --NH.sub.2 site.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
