Abstract

An antiviral agent containing as its active ingredient, an ingredient extracted from Crocosmia x crocosmaeflora N.E. Br.

Dependent claims

A dry ingredient obtained by

(1) milling the whole or the rhizome of crocosmia x crocosmaeflora N.E. Br. and subjecting it to extraction with a solvent selected form the group consisting of water, lower aliphatic alcohols and mixtures of the foregoing, at a temperature of from 0.degree. C. to the boiling points of said solvent,
(2) filtering the resulting material and recovering the resulting filtrate,
(3) concentrating the filtrate, and
(4) filtering off any white precipitate that is formed, and
(5) drying the resulting solution to obtain the dry ingredient.
