Abstract
The invention provides novel bleaching compositions comprising peracid precursors with the general structure ##STR1## with R, R', R" and L as defined in the specification. Novel peracids and precursors are also herein disclosed. These peracid precursors provide new, proficient and cost-effective compounds for fabric bleaching.
Claims24
A bleaching composition comprising;
- (a) a peracid precursor having the general structure:
- ##STR75## wherein R is C.sub.1-20 linear or branched alkyl, alkoxylated alkyl, cycloalkyl, aryl, alkylaryl, substituted aryl;
- R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-20 alkyl, aryl, C.sub.1-20 alkylaryl, substituted aryl, and NR.sub.3.sup.a+, wherein R.sup.a is C.sub.1-30 alkyl;
- and L is a leaving group selected from the group consisting of:
- ##STR76## wherein Y and Z are individually H, SO.sub.3 M, CO.sub.2 M, SO.sub.4 M, OH, halo substituent, --OR.sup.2, R.sup.3, NR.sub.3.sup.4 X, and mixtures thereof, wherein M is an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal counterion, R.sup.2 of --OR.sup.2 is C.sub.1-20 alkyl, R.sup.3 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl, R.sup.4 of NR.sub.3.sup.4 is C.sub.1-30 alkyl and X is a counterpart ion thereto, and Y and Z can be the same or different;
- (ii) halide;
- (iii) --ONR.sup.6, wherein R.sup.6 contains at least one carbon which is singly or doubly bonded directly to N;
- (iv) ##STR77## wherein R.sup.18 is C.sub.1-10 alkyl;
- and (v) mixtures thereof;
- and
- (b) a bleach-effective amount of a source of hydrogen peroxide.

The bleaching composition of claim 8 wherein L is Cl.
A bleaching composition comprising:
- (a) a compound which includes the substituent ##STR84## wherein R is C.sub.4-17 linear, branched alkyl;
- alkylaryl;
- alkoxylated alkyl, and aryl or substituted aryl;
- R' and R" are independently H, C.sub.1-20 alkyl, aryl, C.sub.1-20 alkylaryl, substituted aryl, and NR.sub.3.sup.a+, wherein R.sup.a is C.sub.1-30 alkyl;
- and
- (b) a bleach effective amount of a source of hydrogen peroxide;
- said composition providing about 0.5 to 100 ppm peracid A.O. in aqueous media, said peracid A.O. being provided by a mixture of the following structures:

A bleaching composition comprising:
- (a) a peracid precursor having the structure ##STR86## wherein R is C.sub.1-20 alkyl, and L is a leaving group selected from the group consisting essentially of phenol derivative, oxime, amine oxide, and hydroxyimide;
- and
- (b) a bleach effective amount of a source of hydrogen peroxide.
