Abstract
This invention provides novel compounds which are leukotriene antagonists, certain novel intermediates to the compounds, formulations of the compounds, and a method of using the compounds for the treatment of conditions characterized by an excessive release of leukotrienes.
Claims18
A compound of the formula ##STR34## and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, wherein:
- R.sub.1 is ##STR35## or halo;
- R.sub.2 is halo or hydroxy;
- R.sub.3 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, hydroxy-substituted C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, or C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 alkenyl;
- Y is --O--
- Z is --CR.sub.8 R.sub.9 --
- Q is --O--, --NR--, ##STR36## or a bond;
- R.sub.4 is --COR.sub.10 or ##STR37## where R is hydrogen or C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl;
- R.sub.5 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 cycloalkyl, or phenyl optionally substituted with a group selected from halo, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl, or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy;
- is independently hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 alkyl, phenyl, or benzyl;
- R.sub.1O is hydroxy;
- and
- p is 0, 1, or 2;
- with the provisions that:
- (a) when R.sub.1 is ##STR38## R.sub.2 may not be hydroxy;
- and (b) when R.sub.4 is --COR.sub.10, Q may only be a bond.
