Abstract
The invention concerns novel renin-inhibitory peptides which are useful for treating renin associated hypertension and hyperaldosteronism. Processes for preparing the peptides, compositions containing them and methods of using them are included. Also included is a diagnostic test using the compounds to determine the presence of renin-associated hypertension or hyperaldosteronism.
Claims8
A peptide of the formula
- ACYL--X--Y--W--U (I)
- or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, wherein
- ACYL is DNMA, ##STR32## wherein R is hydrogen or a straight or branched lower alkyl of from one to six carbon atoms, ##STR33## X is HIS, HOMOHIS, PHE, HOMOPHE, ILE, LEU, NLE, N--MeHIS, N--MeLEU, or ##STR34## Y is STA, CYSTA, or PHSTA;
- W is LEU, ILE, N--MeLEU, N--MeILE, VAL or absent with the proviso that, when ACYL is DNMA, W is present;
- and
- U is --NHCH.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2 CH.sub.3, --NHCH.sub.2 Ph,--NHCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SCH(CH.sub.3).sub.2, --NHCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SOCH(CH.sub.3).sub.2,
- --NHCH.sub.2 CH(OH)CH.sub.2 SO.sub.2 CH(CH.sub.3).sub.2, ##STR35##
