Abstract
1-Alkylated diazolidinones are intermediates to bicyclic pyrazolidinone antimicrobial compounds. The instant compounds have the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2, and R.sub.3, have the meanings as defined in the specification.
Claims7
A compound of the formula:
- ##STR9## wherein:
- R.sub.1 is C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 substituted alkyl, perfluoro C.sub.2 to C.sub.4 alkyl, C.sub.7 to C.sub.12 arylalkyl, C.sub.7 to C.sub.12 substituted arylalkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, or a heterocyclic ring;
- a group of the formula
- --CX.sub.3
- wherein X is fluoro, chloro, bromo or iodo;
- or a group of the formula
- --S--R.sub.4
- wherein R.sub.4 is C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 alkyl, C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 substituted alkyl, phenyl, substituted phenyl, C.sub.7 to C.sub.12 arylalkyl, C.sub.7 to C.sub.12 substituted arylalkyl or a heterocyclic ring;
- R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are:
- (1) each hydrogen;
- (2) taken together and form a phthalimido group;
- or
- (3) different and are either hydrogen or an amino-protecting group;
- or a pharmaceutically-acceptable salt thereof.
