Abstract
Aroylthiazolones enhance myocardial contractile force and are useful as cardiotonics in the treatment of heart failure.
Claims18
A method of treating heart failure in a patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a cardiotonically effective amount of an aroylthiazolone of the formula ##STR5## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl group;
- and
- R.sub.2 is a phenyl or benzyl group optionally substituted with one or two members of the group consisting of (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylsulfinyl, trifluoromethyl, cyano, amino, mono- and di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylamino, and halogen.
A method of enhancing myocardial contractile force in a patient in need thereof which comprises administering to the patient a therapeutically effective amount of an aroylthiazolone of the formula ##STR6## wherein R.sub.1 is a hydrogen or (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkyl group;
- and
- R.sub.2 is a phenyl or benzyl group optionally substituted with one or two members of the group consisting of (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkoxy, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylthio, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4)alkylsulfinyl, (C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylsulfonyl, trifluoromethyl, cyano, amino, mono- and di-(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4) alkylamino, and halogen.
A method of claim ll wherein R.sub.2 is a dimethylaminophenyl group.
