Abstract
This specification discloses a magneto-optical recording medium having an amorphous magnetic alloy film comprising the following composition and having a readily magnetizable axis in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the film: {(Gd.sub.x Tb.sub.1-x).sub.p (Fe.sub.y Co.sub.1-y).sub.1-p }.sub.q (Ni.sub.z Cr.sub.1-z).sub.1-q, where 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.0.9 0.2.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.1.0 0.05.ltoreq.z.ltoreq.1.0 0.1.ltoreq.p.ltoreq.0.5 0.001.ltoreq.1-q.ltoreq.0.35.

A magneto-optical recording medium having amorphous magnetic alloy film comprising the following composition and having a readily magnetizable axis in a direction perpendicular to the surface of the film:
- {(Gd.sub.x Tb.sub.1-x).sub.p (Fe.sub.y Co.sub.1-y).sub.1-p }.sub.q (Ni.sub.z Cr.sub.1-z).sub.1-q,
- where
- 0.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.0.9
- 0.2.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.1.0
- 0.2.ltoreq.z.ltoreq.0.9
- 0.1.ltoreq.p.ltoreq.0.5
- 0.8.ltoreq.1-q.ltoreq.0.95
- wherein said alloy film contains at least one of Gd and Co.
