Abstract
There are disclosed compounds represented by Formulas I-III: ##STR1## wherein X is an azido group or an amino group and R is hydrogen or an acyl group. These compounds are useful for the treatment of viral infections and/or as intermediates in the production of compounds which are useful in the treatment of viral infections.

A compound having one of the following formulas:
- ##STR11## wherein X is an azido group or an amino group and R is hydrogen or an acyl group having from 2-7 carbon atoms.
(+)-1-[(1.alpha.,3.bet a.,4.alpha.)-3-Azido-4-[(triphenylmethoxy)methyl]cyclopentyl]-5-methyl-2,4- (1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione.
(+)- 1-[(1.alpha.,3.alpha.,4.alpha.)-3-Azido-4-[(triphenylmethoxy)methyl]cyclope ntyl]-5-methyl-2,4(1H,3H)-pyrimidinedione.
