Abstract
Alcohol oxidase is rendered storage stable in dried form by the addition thereto of small amounts of at least one of peroxidase, catalase, hemoglobin, cytochrome c and myoglobin.
Claims16
An enzyme composition consisting essentially of
- (a) alcohol oxidase, and
- (b) a stabilizing amount of at least one stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of:
- peroxidase, catalase, hemoglobin, cytochrome c and myoglobin.
A method for preparing stabilized, essentially dry alcohol oxidase which comprises:
- (a) dissolving or suspending up to 100 mg/mL of alcohol oxidase in aqueous medium in the presence of a stabilizing amount of at least one stabilizing agent selected from the group consisting of:
- peroxidase, catalase, hemoglobin, cytochrome c and myoglobin;
- and then
- (b) removing substantially all of the water from the combination prepared as described in step (a) under conditions suitable to produce essentially dry alcohol oxidase.
