10,11-dihydro-dibenzo-[b,f][1,4]-thiazepin derivatives

Compounds having the formula:

• ##STR10## wherein X is thio, sulfonyl or sulfinyl
• R is C.sub.1 to C.sub.20 alkyl which may be straight chain, branched chain or cyclic;
• R.sub.1 to R.sub.8 are each independently selected from hydrogen, hydroxy, halogen including F, Cl, Br, I, --OR, OCOR, NHR, N[R].sub.2, NO.sub.2, SR, SOR, SO.sub.2 R, SO.sub.2 NHR, SO.sub.2 N(R).sub.2, CN, COOR, CF.sub.3, CF.sub.3 S, CHO, COR, CH.sub.2 OR, R, phenyl, phenyl substituted by one or more groups selected from OH, C.sub.1 to C.sub.6 -alkyl, COOR, CN, NO.sub.2, CF.sub.3, SR, NHR or N(R).sub.2 ;
• R.sub.9 is H or OH;
• R.sub.1O is H, or together
• R.sub.9 and R.sub.10 form a double bonded oxo group;
• and pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof.
