A catalyst composition comprising a catalytic platinum group metal carboxylate bound to a carboxylated polymer through the carboxylate group of the polymer, the carboxylate group being the only essential reactive group in the polymer and the polymer containing not more than 5 mol equivalents of carboxylate groups per gram of polymer.
