Abstract
Acylated cyanamide compounds useful for ethanol deterrence of the formula RCONHCN, wherein R is a lipophilic acyl group or is derived from an (N-substituted)-alpha-aminoacyl group.
Claims7
A method for deterring ethanol ingestion by a human comprising administering to said human a pharmaceutical unit dosage form comprising an amount of a compound of the formula:
- ##STR2## wherein R is (C.sub.3 -C.sub.30)alkyl comprising 0-3 double bonds, aryl, cycloalkyl or benzyloxy;
- and the pharmaceutically-acceptable salts thereof, which is effective to increase the blood acetaldehyde concentration in the presence of ethanol.
A method for deterring ethanol ingestion by a human comprising administering to said human a pharmaceutical unit dosage form comprising an amount of acetylcyanamide or propionyl cyanamide effective to increase the blood acetaldehyde concentration in the presence of ethanol.
