A method of continuously forming edgewise wound cores from a strip of generally thin ferromagnetic material at at least one operation station therefor having a means for receiving the cores. The receiving means includes a pair of separable means adapted for association with each other and separation, and a set of supporting means is operable generally in one of the separable means for movement between retracted and protracted positions, respectively. In the practice of this method, the continuous strip is deformed generally edgewise thereof into a plurality of helical convolutions at the at least one operation station. The separable means are separated from each other, and thereby the operation of the supporting means toward the protracted positions thereof is effected. A part of each supporting means is extended beyond the one separation means when the supporting means are in the protracted positions thereof, and at least some of the helical convolutions are received generally in an axial stack thereof about the one separable means on the supporting means parts when the supporting means are in the protracted positions thereof, respectively.
A method of forming edgwise wound cores at at least one winding station from a continuous strip of a generally thin ferromagnetic material, the at least one winding station having a means for receiving the edgewise wound cores with the receiving means including a pair of arbor means adapted for engagement with each other in one position and with one of the arbor means being movable toward another position disengaged from the other of the arbor means, the method comprising the steps of:
A method of continuously forming edgewise wound cores from a continuous strip of a generally thin ferromagnetic material at at least one winding station having a pair of arbor means for engagement with each other and for disnegagement from each other, and a set of supporting means in one of the arbor means and adapted for displacement toward a protracted position extending beyond the one arbor means, the method comprising the steps of:
A method of continuously forming edgewise wound cores from a strip of generally thin ferromagnetic material at an operation station with the operation station having a pair of arbor means for engagement with each other and with one of the arbor means being movable toward a displaced position disengaged from the other of the arbor means, and a set of supporting means arranged with the other arbor means for movement between a protracted position extending in part beyond the other arbor means and a retracted position disposed therewithin, the method comprising the steps of:
A method of continuously forming edgewise wound cores from a strip of generally thin ferromagnetic material at at least one operation station with the at least one operation station having a means for receiving the edgewise wound cores, the receiving means including a pair of generally cylindric members each having a circumferental surface, a chamber in at least one of the cylindric members, a set of openings between the chamber and the cylindric surface of the at least one cylindric member, respectively, a set of pins movable in the openings, respectively, a set of cam surfaces on the pins within the chamber, respectively, cam means movable at least in part in the chamber, and an abutment on the other of the cylindric members, the method comprising the steps of:
