Abstract
A phthalate compound represented by the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is alkyl having 1-8 carbon atoms or benzyl. The compounds have a repellency action to unhygienic pests and a plasticization action to thermoplastic polymers, and are useful as a pesticide or plasticizer.
