A recording liquid comprising a liquid composition containing a disperse dye is provided in which the purity of the disperse dye is 90% or higher. The recording liquid is useful for an ink jet recording system.

A recording liquid comprising a liguid composition containing a disperse dye, the purity of said disperse dye being 90% by weight or higher.
A recording liquid for ink jet recording process comprising a liquid composition containing a disperse dye and a liquid medium, the purity of said dye being 90% by weight or higher.
