Dependent claims

A magnetoopical recording medium comprising a recording layer of an amorphos alloy having an axis of easy magnetization in a direction perpendicular to the film surface, capable of recording information by heating said layer with irradiation of high-thermal energy and reading out said recorded information by magnetooptical effect which comprises a ternary alloy of the formula:

Tb.sub.y (Fe.sub.1-x Co.sub.x).sub.1-y
wherein
0.01.ltoreq.x.ltoreq.0.7
0.1.ltoreq.y.ltoreq.0.4
and having a curie temperature of at least about 100.degree. C.
