Abstract
New magnetic hydride Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 BH.sub.x (0<x<5) and family corresponding to other rare earths and yttrium. Possible substitution of Fe by Co. Preparation from Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B by hydrogenation (ambient temperature; pH.sub.2 >20 bar), which can be reversed to give powdered Nd.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 B. Remarkable magnetic properties.
Claims8
A compound which comprises a rare earth/iron/boron or rare earth/cobalt/boron hydride and corresponds to the formula:
- R.sub.2 Fe.sub.14 BH.sub.x
- or
- R.sub.2 Co.sub.14 BH.sub.x
- where 0<x.ltoreq.5,
- in which R represents a rare earth element or yttrium, and wherein, in the above formula, the iron or cobalt can be partially substituted by an element selected from the group consisting of 3d, 4d and 5d transition elements Al, Si, C and Ge.
