Abstract
The invention is (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl acrylate, (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl methacrylate or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof. In another aspect, the invention is a polymeric composition which comprises the reaction product of: (a) between about 0.5 and 100 percent by weight of a (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl acrylate, (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl methacrylate or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof; and (b) between about 0 and 99.5 weight percent of a compound containing a polymerizable 1,2-ethylenically unsaturated moiety.
Claims5
A polymeric composition which comprises the reaction product of:
- (a) between about 0.5 and 100 percent by weight of a (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl acrylate, (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl methacrylate or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof;
- and
- (b) between about 0 and 99.5 weight percent of a compound containing a polymerizable 1,2-ethylenically unsaturted moiety.
A polymeric composition which comprises the reaction product of
- (a) between about 0.5 and 99 percent by weight of a (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl acrylate, (hydroxy)-phosphinylalkyl methacrylate or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt thereof;
- and
- (b) between about 1 and 99.5 percent of two or more compounds which contain a polymerizable 1,2-ethylenically unsaturated moiety.
