A composition comprising a ferrous compound and as a stabilizer, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (A) erythorbic acid compounds, (B) hydroxycarboxylic acid compounds and (c) oxocarboxylic acid compounds.

A composition consisting essentially of a ferrous compound selected from the group consisting of ferrous sulfate, ferrous chloride and ferrous nitrate and as a stabilizer, at least one compound selected from the group consisting of (A) erythorbic acid compounds, (B) hydroxycarboxylic acid compounds having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and (C) oxocarboxylic acid compounds having 2 to 8 carbon atoms and, optionally, water.
