Method of and apparatus for producing video signal associated with photographic image

An apparatus for producing a video signal representative of a photographic image comprising:

• image pickup means for picking up photographic images which are stored in a plurality of substantially equally dimensioned frames in horizontal and vertical positions to form video signals representative of the photographic images;
• output means for producing the video signals;
• input means for receiving a first signal indictive of the vertical and horizontal positions, and a top-bottom orientation of the photographic images stored in the frames;
• image rotating means for rotating the photographic images relatively in response to the first signal;
• and
• magnification varying means for producing, for a vertically positioned image, a video signal representative of the photographic image with a magnification which is smaller than that of a horizontally positioned image, whereby a video signal is provided which represents the photographic image in a non-inverted top-bottom orientation without essential portions of the photographic image being omitted.
