Abstract
A bacteria adsorbing composition which includes a first component comprising a powerfully hydrophobic, bacteria adsorbing, physiologically innocuous, preferably water-insoluble material, and a second component comprising a hydrophilic, liquid absorbing, physiologically innocuous material.

A bacteria adsorbing composition in water-insoluble form which includes a first component comprising one or more liquid permeable layers of a powerfully hydrophobic, bacteria adsorbing, physiologically innocuous material comprising a woven or non-woven hydrophilic fabric, which has been rendered hydrophobic by chemical treatment with a compound containing hydrophobic groups, and a second component comprising one or more layers of a hydrophilic, liquid adsorbing, physiologically innocuous material, at least one layer of hydrophilic material being located externally of at least part of the hydrophobic material as viewed from the surface to be treated.
