Abstract
This invention is concerned with the treatment of particulate titanium dioxide and other pigments with a surfactant compound which serves to enhance its employment in pigmented and/or filled paints and plastics, paper making compositions and in reinforced plastic composite compositions.
Claims32
The composition comprising titanium dioxide particles containing on their surfaces a surfactant, said surfactant being present on said surfaces in an amount sufficient to improve the dispersibility of said particles in a resin medium, a plastic medium, a paper making composition, or a reinforced plastic composite composition, wherein the surfactant consists of the reaction product of:
- a Diamine, a Carboxylic Acid, and a Fatty Acid.
A surfactant for treating pigments such as titanium dioxide, carbon black, organic pigments, inert pigments and the like to improve their dispersibility in resin mediums, plastic mediums, paper making compositions, reinforced plastic composite compositions and the like consisting of the reaction product of:
- a Diamine, a Carboxylic Acid, and a Fatty Acid.
A process for treating titanium dioxide pigments with a dispersing agent in order to improve their dispersibility in organic and aqueous media, the improvement comprising utilizing a surfactant as the dispersing agent wherein the surfactant consists of the reaction product of:
- a Diamine, a Carboxylic Acid, and a Fatty Acid.
