Abstract
Herbicidally active novel substituted phenylsulfonyl guanidines of the formula ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is a phenyl or phenoxy group, each of R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is a lower alkyl or lower alkoxy group, and R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group, and novel intermediates therefor.

A substituted phenylsulfonyl guanidine of the formula ##STR37## in which R.sup.1 is a phenyl or phenoxy group, each of
- R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 is a lower alkyl or lower alkoxy group, and
- R.sup.4 is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or a lower alkoxy group.
