Abstract
The hydrothermal stability of zeolites is improved by incorporating Group IB metal cations preferably Ag into the zeolite. The improved stability is useful in processes in which the zeolite is frequently exposed to water vapor at elevated temperature, for example, in processes where water is produced in the reaction or in the catalyst regeneration.
Claims12
In a catalytic process for the conversion of a feed consisting essentially of oxygenated compounds selected from the group consisting of methanol, dimethyl ether, and ethanol wherein at least one of said oxygenated compounds is contacted at elevated temperatures and pressures with a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite selected from the group consisting of large pore zeolites and zeolites having a Constraint Index of from 1 to 12 in order to convert the feed to hydrocarbons, the improvement which comprises employing as the catalyst a zeolite containing a Group IB metal cation.
